Safe and Sound Protocol - Music Therapy

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based listening therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors through filtered music.

The music of the SSP has been specially filtered to highlight frequencies of sound that typically make us feel safe. The program is comprised of a 5hr playlist.

My Journey with SSP

How SSP Supported My Family and Informed My Work

I first encountered the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) as a parent—my child was using it as part of his speech therapy. I quickly began to notice subtle but meaningful shifts in him: he became more cuddly, more connected, and started seeking out engagement in ways he hadn’t before. Curious, I decided to try it myself. I was amazed by the results—my sensitivity to sound eased, and I noticed my nervous system felt calmer, more grounded. Experiencing this change firsthand made it clear to me how powerful SSP can be. That’s why I’ve chosen to include it in my practice. It’s a gentle, accessible tool that can make a real difference—and for many, it’s easy to incorporate into everyday life.
