Support for children ages 6–12
Focus is on building body awareness, emotional understanding, and nervous system regulation through age-appropriate, engaging activities.
The Approach
Designed to support how your child learns and feels
Sessions often begin with short periods of listening using Unyte’s music-based programs to support your child’s nervous system in settling and becoming more available for learning. From there, we move into interoception-based activities from Kelly Mahler’s curriculum, helping your child learn to notice and understand body signals, connect them to emotions, and recognize what their body needs. There is also space to talk things through when it is helpful and your child is open to it.
Music-Based Support for Regulation
Using sound to support the nervous system and build capacity for regulation
Sessions may include listening-based support using Unyte programs, such as the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP). These music-based approaches involve a total of approximately 5 hours of listening, completed gradually over time, and help the nervous system settle—supporting attention, emotional regulation, and a greater sense of safety in the body.
SSP focuses on engagement and regulation, while RRP supports deeper calming and recovery. Listening is always integrated at a pace that works for your child and alongside other supports used in sessions.
Interoception-Based Regulation Support
Learning Through Guided Exploration
The interoception work used in sessions follows a structured 26-lesson curriculum that is worked through gradually over time. Each lesson builds on the last, supporting your child in developing deeper awareness of their body signals and how they relate to emotions and regulation.
This work is most effective for children who are able to engage in simple activities, follow basic instructions, and share or communicate their experiences in a way that works for them.
The full curriculum typically takes about 26 weeks to complete with regular sessions, though this may extend depending on pacing.
